ABOUT
"Story-truth is truer sometimes than happening truth."
- The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien -
As an aspiring photojournalist, I aim to tell the truth through photography. Not the happening truth of facts and figures, scientific method and unbiased objectivity. But rather the story-truth of the everyday, of people and moments and emotion and thought. I aim to show life for what it is - complex, meaningful, and endlessly changing. I aim to tell its stories.
As an anthropology and photojournalism student at Penn State, I worked as a communications intern for Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment and served as president as the co-ed service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. I studied abroad in both Australia and South Africa, primarily focusing upon human-environment interactions in protected areas.
I intend to pursue a masters degree in sustainability or international development in the fall and to participate in the Peace Corps' Masters International program while enrolled. I am looking forward to using film and photography to tell the stories that need to be told.
